TZM Alloy Oxidation Resistance

TZM alloy due to its excellent high temperature mechanical properties as high temperature structural materials are widely used. Although widely used, but the same problems, such as high temperature conditions when the surface oxidation rate is very high. Mainly because of its poor oxidation resistance, anti-oxidation layer can not be formed to protect themselves, so that the life of TZM alloy under high temperature conditions is very short. This will undoubtedly greatly narrowed the scope of its use, the state can only be used at high temperatures in a protective atmosphere TZM alloy and perhaps future direction of development.

There are two main methods for improving TZM alloy high temperature oxidation resistance : 1.Alloying addition of trace elements in the alloy to improve the oxidation resistance of the alloy; 2 Surface coating technology, is coated on the surface of the alloy layer. Protection, mainly used in underground infiltration method. Studies shows temperatures below 400 degrees Celsius, the oxidation rate of the alloy is very slow, the alloy surface to generate less volatile MoO2, on the surface of the protective effect of slowing the rate of its continued oxidation.
