Molybdenum Alloy Profile

Molybdenum metal is often used in powder metallurgy produced, molybdenum powder into a green body by isostatic beat and sintered at about 2100 ℃.

And molybdenum; molybdenum in the range of 870 ~ 1260 ℃ thermal processing, when the volatility of molybdenum oxide is formed is heated in air at above about 600 ℃, so it is limited to the application of high vacuum or non-oxidizing environment, alloy (at temperature of 1900 ℃) having good strength and mechanical stability, high ductility and toughness thereof so that the defect tolerance and brittle fracture is higher than that of ceramic.

Unique properties of molybdenum alloys to have a variety of uses:
High heating elements, radiation shields, extrusion dies, forging dies, etc.;
· X- ray for rotating anode clinical diagnosis;
· Molten glass corrosion resistant glass melting furnace electrodes and parts;
· Used as a semiconductor chip radiator anti-vibration pad, the thermal expansion coefficient of silicon to match;
· Sputtered layer, only a few angstroms (10-7 mm) thick, used for doors and interconnecting integrated circuit chip;
· Spray coatings for automotive piston rings and machine parts to reduce friction and improve wear.
Molybdenum alloys with other metals may have many specialized uses:
· Molybdenum - tungsten alloy for its superior corrosion resistance to molten zinc is known;
* Can be used as a copper clad molybdenum has a low elongation, high conductivity electronic circuit board;
· Mo-25% Re alloy is used as a rocket engine components and the liquid metal heat exchangers, which must be ductile at room.
