The Two Molybdenum Lubricant

Molybdenum disulfide is the most common natural form of molybdenum, used as a lubricant directly after extraction from ore purification. Since the layered structure of molybdenum disulfide, which is a very effective lubricant. These layered on each other can be mutually sliding, allows the steel surface and the other surface of the metal flow freely, even under pressure as well, such as the bearing surface. Because molybdenum disulfide is formed on the thermal effect, it has to withstand pressing chemical stability. Reaction of small amounts of iron and sulfur to form a sulfide layer, the sulfide layer is compatible with molybdenum sulfide, maintaining the lubricating film. Molybdenum disulfide inert to many chemicals and its lubricating effect will be completed in vacuo, and the graphite can not.

Molybdenum disulfide and other solid lubricants have a number of unique properties compared with, comprising:
● Unlike graphite, molybdenum disulfide, and its low coefficient of friction (0.03 to 0.06), the gas is not caused by the adsorption film or lubricity inherent in it;
● strong affinity for metal;
● has a film forming structure;
● The yield strength of up to 3450 MPa (500 one thousand pounds / square inch);
● have stability in most solvents;
● in the air, has an excellent lubricating property under low 350 ℃ (1200 ℃ under an inert or vacuum conditions)

Sulfur compound solution and water-soluble molybdenum compound mixed with lubricity and corrosion resistance in the cutting fluid and the metal molding material. Oil-soluble molybdenum sulfur compounds, such as dithiophosphates and dithiocarbamates, to avoid engine wear, oxidation and corrosion.
