In 1906 found that molybdenum silicide, silicon and molybdenum under different conditions, can form a three-molybdenum silicide (Mo3Si), three five-molybdenum silicide (Mo5Si3) and molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2). 
 

Three main molybdenum silicide is molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2), an inter-metal compound daltons, the crystal structure of the metal atoms combine rendered covalent bond and characterized in coexistence with excellent high temperature characteristics of the nature.
 

As early as 1907, molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) on high-temperature corrosion coatings for metal materials in the 1950s appeared molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) heating element. 
 

Molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) as a structural material is first proposed in the early 1950s, but until the 1970s, with the emergence of a brittle material as a structural material of this concept, was the attention. 1980s occurred leap of progress in their research work in the world widespread.
